Life with Claire
Claire will be 7 weeks old this Friday, and I really can’t believe it has been that long! Just in the last week she has gone from sleeping, crying, pooping, and eating to doing those things PLUS having a personality :) She smiles frequently, and has even started laughing in the last few days! First time was for her dad on Halloween night during a diaper change, then she laughed for me the next day. It really makes it a lot easier to handle the episodes of crying and fussiness when you have these really special moments too! My heart completely melts every time she smiles at me…it’s the little things :)
She has been nursing about every 2-3 hours, including during the night, but the last few nights she has slept in 3-4 hour stretches, which makes a world of difference in how rested we feel!
She is a clingy little baby right now, wanting to be held most of the time during the day. This has been hard on me because I can’t get anything done, and it’s even hard to eat and do basic things like that. I’m trying to keep in mind that all too soon the day will come when she doesn’t want to be held at all, and I’ll be longing for these days again.
I worried that maternity leave would be really hard for me because I tend to be a busybody and need a lot of mental stimulation. However, it is going by so fast, and despite a bad day here and there I am enjoying the time I get to spend with my baby.
My life is so different now, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
